I've used this machine for about 4 hours and am pretty impressed. I do have a couple of suggestions to make it even better. Put the same type of spring latches on the discharge chute as on the intake chute. The washer/lock washer/lock-nut combination is tedious to remove to clear jams. The drum access plate could also use a better fastener that can be removed and replaced without a wrench. The last suggestion is to move the engine recoil cord so that it can be started from the rear of the machine instead of having to stand in front of the discharge chute when starting. In its current configuration I have twice found the hot muffler to be a convenient place to brace my left hand while pulling the cord with my right....Ouch.

I did many hours of research before deciding to buy the Power King PK0913 7 HP Chipper. During my research I learned that one of the major complaints of many chippers in this size range is how hard and time consuming it is if you jam it. Other things I learned - some were hard to start, some did not come with a hitch, some put the chips directly on the ground and needed to be moved or cleaned away from often. Not even sure how I stumbled across the Power King, but when I saw it and how it was designed I knew it was the one I wanted. Like others, it arrived in a somewhat smashed shipping container, but there was no damage and no missing parts. It was pretty easy to assemble. Some of the holes did not line up quite right but a quick run through with the drill fixed that. Finally got a chance to use it today. The Kohler engine is a beast! This was my first time ever using a chipper so I jammed it a few times. Instead of having to take out a bunch of screws and take off a plate like many others, just take the cover off the bearing and turn the blades backwards a quarter turn and swing the chute open and clean it out. Takes a minute. Then back to chipping! This is a well designed, quality chipper that will provide years of service. thank you Power King!

After looking at tons of wood chippers on the internet I decided to go with the Powerking PK0913 7hp wood chipper. The biggest sell for me, was the fact that the Powerking chipper came with a Kohler command pro engine! Let's face it, a chipper is only as good as the motor that's on it, and most of the ones I looked at on line had cheap Chinese motors on them. When I received my crated package, I was disappointed to see the shipping crate was totally destroyed. Upon inspecting the chipper, I saw no damage and decided to accept the chipper. Once I removed the chipper from what was left of the crate I was totally impressed with the shear quality of the steel that was used to manufacture this product. With all the abuse it took in transit, there was not a dent in any part on the chipper! Once assembled, now for the real test! The Kohler engine fired on the 3rd pull, after letting it run for about 15 minutes to help brake in the engine, I started up chipping soft wood. Started off with small stuff, then worked my way up to about 3". The powerKing chipper never missed a beat, chipped anything I put through it with no problems. Next I moved up to hard dry ash wood. Munched it up no problem, anything around 3" I fed in a bit slower, and worked fine. I did have it jam up twice, but all I had to do was un-plug the spark-plug, swing the inlet shoot out of the way. using a small piece of wood to rotated the blades the remover the blockage. Two thing you must remember, this is a 7hp chipper, so don't try to over load it, and alway try to chip clean wood, with no mud or dirt to keep your blades it top condition. I would recommend this chipper to anyone looking for a chipper in this price range. Thank you, landmark tools for all of your help with questions and support!
